Allie May

Artist Bio

Allie May is an American artist who loves to indulge in all mediums but focuses most on drawing and painting. In her work, she enjoys the act of painting expressional, in a realistic manner. This can be seen through her experimental acts of color and ability to duplicate reality. She defines her art thus far as “an assortment of works that act as a visual journey to her attempts at hyper-realistic pieces, that results in an admiration for the artistic touch.” She considers every piece, a window into her point of view. Every painting is an attempt to perfectly capture any moment. Her art influence began at a young age, and she considers herself “self-taught.” However, she stresses her immense love for art in an educational setting. That is where the journey of self-discovery begins, and where she has been able to find her own style, through the celebration of art with her peers. Allie May is currently a BFA student at CSU Long Beach focusing on Drawing and Painting. Long term, she is excited to continue her artistic journey into expanding business endeavors and pursuing teaching opportunities.

Artist Statement

While painting, my ultimate goal is to replicate my reference to the best of my ability. I do aim to create a completely realistic piece, however, I find that my result is more on the expressional side. Over time, I have learned to appreciate these results and now aim to explore deeper potential concepts that my art could be about. However, I do find that the majority of my art will act as 'appreciation posts' because I will always love to depict things that make me happy.
