Johnny Castillo
Guatemala-born, Johnny Castillo is a contemporary realist whose work is significantly influenced by his experiences as an undocumented individual. By diving into psychological experiences and exploring his emotions, Castillo’s goal is for his art to be an experience in which others can find solace and pieces of themselves that they thought were forgotten.
Castillo is currently studying Drawing and Painting at The Long Beach School of Art where he will obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He has also received an Associate’s Degree in Studio Arts from Santa Monica College. Castillo is also the Assistant Manager at Kline Academy of Fine Art.
In 2021 alone, Castillo completed the Summer Residency Program at the New York Academy of Art Graduate School of Figurative art and had work published in the LGBTQ+ Heritage Month Calendar and Cultural Guide hosted by Mayor Garcetti and the department of cultural affairs.
